Facebook has removed social media pages belonging to conspiracy theorist Alex Jones for violating its hate speech and bullying policies.
The social media giant said it had removed four pages belonging to Jones after they repeatedly broke the site’s community standards.
Facebook said it also blocked Jones’ account for 30 days for “his role in posting violating content to these pages”.
Earlier this year, Facebook removed the pages of far-right group Britain First and those of its leaders Paul Golding and Jayda Fransen on similar grounds.
The company said it “unpublished” the four pages linked to Jones after receiving reports they contained content “glorifying violence” and used “dehumanising language” to describe Muslims, immigrants and transgender people.
The pages involved were the Alex Jones Channel Page, the Alex Jones Page, the InfoWars Page and the Infowars Nightly News Page.
Facebook is the latest tech company to take action against Jones, who has been facing a growing backlash on social media.
Last week, music streaming service Spotify removed some episodes of The Alex Jones Show podcast for breaching its hate content policy – but has since widened the ban and removed all episodes of the show.
Apple has also removed Jones and several of his shows from its Podcasts app, while video site YouTube has also removed specific pieces content from Jones, however, his official channel on the site remains active.
