Full Description

Our client is seeking a skilled temporary Data Scientist to join the Risk and Operations division for a period of 18 months. The role will focus on supporting the development and implementation of a data-driven approach to risk-based supervision. This project aims to revolutionise the authorisation process by creating a new applications portal that will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of applications submissions. The Data Scientist will be responsible for analysing complex data, developing innovative tools, and presenting findings to various stakeholders. The role will involve the application of Machine Learning techniques and data visualisation tools to drive improvements within the organisation. Click here to read more Job Duties: Work closely with management, divisional representatives, and external professionals to define data and analytics requirements. Contribute to the development and implementation of an analytics-led approach to risk-based supervision of licensees. Develop, create, and test innovative tools to enhance and augment the Commissions approach to risk-based supervision. Prepare and present findings, demonstrations, and training to a range of stakeholders, including at project board meetings. Produce clear, concise, and reliable written work to be used as a record. Chair or contribute to meetings in a clear and professional manner. Assist with internal projects, such as supervisory processes, statistical exercises, or procedure reviews. Collaborate with colleagues to understand the role and contribute to the success. Take responsibility for updating professional and technical knowledge, including understanding regulatory laws, rules, and guidance. Complete work promptly to a high standard, maintaining a high level of attention to detail. Make constructive recommendations for improvements and assist in their implementation. Prioritise business, infrastructure, and information needs in collaboration with management. Query and analyse data from relational databases, understanding data models, data quality, and data taxonomies. Apply Machine Learning techniques (supervised and unsupervised learning), Natural Language Processing, Optimisation, and Cognitive Computing solutions to solve problems. Analyse and interpret complex digital data to assist decision-making. Use visualisation techniques and dash-boarding tools, such as R Shiny and Power BI, to present information and findings. Assist supervisors in the development and use of innovative tools as part of risk-based supervision. Use project management skills to achieve change and delivery milestones, assisting others as necessary. Build good working relationships with third-party contractors and engage proactively with staff at all levels. Write production-grade code in Python, R, and SQL. Job Requirements: Strong background in data science and analytics, including experience with Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing. Expertise in data analysis, querying, and working with relational databases. Familiarity with visualisation tools, such as R Shiny or Power BI, to present complex data clearly and effectively. Proven ability to write production-grade code in Python, R, and SQL. Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings to a range of stakeholders. Project management skills and the ability to manage delivery milestones. Ability to work collaboratively with team members, contractors, and management. Strong analytical skills with a focus on data quality and decision-making support.
