Have you ever considered a career in Guernsey where you have time to care, gaining experience across a broad range of surgical areas, such as gastrointestinal, urological, and gynaecological surgery, plus oncology care? Are you currently at first level registration with the NMC?
We have some great opportunities across our surgical units as well as in our general surgical ward (Giffard). Following general training and experience as a Band 5 registered nurse, you will progress to supervising and participating in the professional and skills development of qualified and unqualified nursing staff.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team which is made up of medical specialists, therapists and a wide range of consultant nurses, you will work across acute services which include pain management, infection control, diabetes, breast care, urology, stoma care and osteoporosis.
Within Giffard ward we offer care also to oncology patients.
As an effective role model, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care for patients, delivering this within the current ward philosophy
Finally, and under the direction of the Nurse in charge, regularly act as ward co-ordinator as well as taking charge of the ward and supervising nursing staff on a regular basis.

Should the successful applicant not meet the requirements sufficiently he/she may be appointed at a lower grade than stated. The successful applicant would then have the opportunity to progress to the grade advertised once the necessary skills and knowledge have been developed and the postholder has demonstrated the ability to undertake the duties at the higher level.
