I have just started the process of moving house, and I’m already finding it stressful.
We’ve lived in our flat for 12 years. That’s the second longest time I’ve lived anywhere, after my family home where I grew up, and it’s the longest my daughter has lived anywhere.
With all this going on in the background in my personal life, I read each article for this month’s Connect with a sense of trepidation growing into excitement.
Infinity’s model of buying off plan is such a great idea – and spending time with Sam Rowe, it’s clear to see that he would be a calming presence, to guide you through this process.
Learning about the different experiences of redeveloping a Mill, and a house, got me thinking “I can do that” ... now in reality, I know that I can’t redevelop a Mill, but a house could be manageable...
If anyone wants to redevelop their house the first stop would be finding an architect, and spending time with Silvie Evans to find out about her work was eye opening. There’s a strong demand for architectural services in Guernsey and Silvie’s business has boomed since she launched in early 2018.
Speaking of businesses that are booming – how about blooming? Because that’s the only word to describe life at Guernsey Gardens. Constantly evolving, with new plants being cultivated, the team told us all about their work during the company’s 50th year in business.
Designing one’s own garden and home is a dream for many people, and for many more it must feel increasingly out of reach. Charles McHugh gave us his thoughts on how Guernsey can tackle its housing crisis and offer that hope to more people.
There’s much more in Connect too this month, with the Chamber of Commerce bidding “a la perchoine” to Elaine Gray who is stepping down as Chamber President, Guernsey Mind are helping us look after our workplace wellbeing, we’re thanking the thousands of volunteers who keep our island running, and we’re looking forward to the 48th Vale Earth Fair.
Enjoy Connect!
