With effect from 27 October the Household Green Waste site at Mont Cuet will move to winter opening hours, until 30 March 2025.
The site will be open on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays between 10am and 4pm, and closed on all other days.
Guernsey Waste minimisation & sustainability officer Douglas Button said the new site which opened to the public earlier this year has been extremely well received.
When the new site opened, a review of opening hours based on the previous site was undertaken and a summer and winter operating schedule agreed, to better align with demand.
The summer opening hours saw the site open until later, with a 6pm weekday closure as opposed to the historic 4pm, as well as an all day opening on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
“The new opening times are intended to align with customer demand, which reflects the seasons. The opening days and times have been reduced in the winter months when historically green waste volumes are lower.
“Following the move to the new site, everything has gone fairly smoothly over the summer months. The feedback we have had from users has been overwhelmingly positive, which is very pleasing.
“A review of usage over the first summer opening will be undertaken ahead of next year, to assess whether any improvements can be made.”
