A planned charity fundraiser this weekend has been cancelled due to the weather forecast.

In the first event of its kind, Guernsey Chest & Heart LBG has offered people the chance to take part in The Brave Heart Victoria Tower Challenge on Sunday 8 September.

The unique challenge was to raise funds for vital community healthcare work and celebrate the Chest & Heart clinic's upcoming 50th anniversary in November.

However it has since been confirmed that the event can't go ahead and will be rescheduled for next year:

"We are extremely disappointed that, due to the appalling weather forecast for this weekend and the corresponding health and safety issues, we will have to postpone our Victoria Tower Braveheart Challenge in aid of Guernsey Chest and Heart LBG on Sunday 8 September until another time when the elements won't be against us.

"The organisers are very sorry to have to do this as a lot of work has gone into making this unique event a possibility but the safety of participants has to be a priority. A new date will be announced early next year."
