The Ladies’ College has been awarded a Microsoft Showcase School status for the third year running, recognising the school’s innovative use of technology.

The award looks for the development of future-ready skills and the expansion of Microsoft and Adobe training and qualifications, using a student-centred approach.

The Ladies’ College continues to support both students and teachers with growing their skills. 70% of the College’s teachers are now Microsoft Innovative Experts, enabling them to assist the students in growing their digital skillset.

During the last year, 54 students have received their Microsoft Office Specialist or Expert certifications in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Six students gained single Adobe Certified Professional Qualifications using the Adobe Suite of software and five students became Adobe Certified Professionals in Visual and Video Design. Many students have multiple qualifications in both Microsoft and Adobe applications.

Director of Studies at The Ladies’ College, Howard Barnes, said: ‘It’s amazing to have achieved this award for the third year in a row, recognising the work we do in our community to prepare The Ladies’ College students to engage and shape their futures.

In a rapidly changing world, we must work hard to embrace an agile approach to education.’

Holding a Microsoft Showcase School status highlights schools that are at the forefront of educational transformation, harnessing the power of technology to enhance learning experiences and inspire the next generation of learners.

Receiving a Microsoft Office Specialist certification in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, allows students to sit expert-level qualifications in Word, Excel and Access. These industry-standard qualifications are delivered through online courses and exams and certification is delivered by The Ladies’ College as a Microsoft Academy.

The College also offers Key Stage 4 and 5 students the opportunity to sit Adobe courses and become Adobe Certified Associates or Adobe Professionals.

Head of IT at The Ladies’ College, Paul Beasley, said: ‘Our connections with Microsoft and Adobe are key in developing our students’ digital skills, setting them up for the future. By growing this relationship with other Microsoft Showcase Schools, we can gain further understanding of the skills needed in today’s industries.’

Howard added: ‘The network of Showcase Schools gives us great access to lots of knowledgeable figures in the information technology field and allows us to contribute as part of this network.’
