Stanley Gibbons is investing in their Guernsey office, expanding the client relationship team and strengthening the company’s administration capabilities.

Alison Dodd has been promoted to Investment Operations Manager working with Channel Island Investment Portfolio Manager, Anthony Love. She has worked in investments in Guernsey and London for over 15 years and has an Investment Management Certificate. The office also includes two Investment Relationship Administrators and the company will be recruiting again in the New Year for a further Investment Relationship Administrator.

Keith Heddle, Managing Director, Stanley Gibbons Investments, said Guernsey plays a central role for the business: "The safe custody of our investment stamps and other collectibles are managed through Guernsey. We have a partner vault in the Island and that’s the focal point for all our investment portfolio managers and clients.

"We’ve also invested in our client relationship team to ensure all clients are receiving the full Stanley Gibbons service. The Stanley Gibbons Group has been expanding and acquiring in the last couple of years, however, despite our increased size the most important element of our business is to ensure our clients receive the highest level of service possible, and the re-investment into Guernsey is part of that commitment."

The Stanley Gibbons Group has recently acquired: Baldwin’s coin merchants, fine antiques and decorative art dealer, Mallett plc and Dreweatts & Bloomsbury Auctions. In November it announced its interim results for the six months to 30 September showed a rise of 58% across the group, resulting in an increase in trading profits of 217%.

The group has recently invested in a new computer system for client management and we are dealing with the investment portfolio managers from around the world, including Hong Kong and Singapore. The interest in alternative investments has been growing and locally we’re seeing increased business in Guernsey as people look for solid returns on their savings and pension investments.
