The Saffery Champness Rotary Walk committee is inviting local charities to come forward to apply for some of the total funds the event raises this year. Submissions to the committee can be made by any local registered charity which in need of financial support for a specific project or initiative. Applications will need to have been made by 31 March, 2014.

Saffery Champness' director Lisa Vizia, together with some of the firm's staff, is joining the walk's organising committee which also helps to review the applications and select projects they would like to support this year.

"We are particularly keen for charities to come forward to tell us about any projects they need financial help with. It is important from the very outset for all the walkers to know who their fundraising efforts will be benefiting."

Any charities that would like to apply for funding should email guernseyrotarywalk@gmail.com or collect a form on weekdays from Saffery Champness' office at La Tonnelle House, Les Banques, St Sampson's.

Submissions of all sizes will be considered for funding and should be made in writing outlining full details of the fundraising project, received no later than the end of March.

One of the recipients of last year's funding was St John Ambulance and Rescue Service for the purchase of a new trolley stretcher to be used in an emergency road ambulance.

Dean De La Mare, senior officer of St John Ambulance and Rescue Service, said: "We were delighted to receive a new Stryker Stretcher by way of donation following the 2013 walk.  We are very grateful for the continued support we receive from such events and the kind generosity of the Guernsey public."

The Saffery Champness Rotary Walk will take place on Saturday 7 June. Cheques will be presented to this year's charities at a post event reception in the autumn once all the sponsorship funds have been submitted.

Online registration for the Saffery Champness Rotary Walk will be available soon. In the meantime walkers can confirm their intention to participate via email to guernseyrotarywalk@gmail.com. Walkers can choose to register to complete the entire route or any part of it.
