MOSTLY Harmless and Bubbles claimed class victories as the inaugural Rossborough Spring Series got under way in benign conditions in April.
Light winds and rain did not deter Guernsey Yacht Club members as 9 dinghies and yachts competed in the first race of the new series.
Mostly Harmless, a class 6 dinghy skippered by Stuart Bloese and Bubbles, a class 7 yacht with Stephen Paine at the helm each won their races which were exciting and competitive.
Ian Stewart, Rossborough’s Managing Director, was delighted that the new event had got off to such a flying start.
‘We are so pleased to get involved as it is the first evening series of the year and offers a chance for people to show off any new boats, sails or equipment they have purchased over the winter.
‘Whilst Mostly Harmless and Bubbles performed superbly in claiming class wins, Majic, a new JPK 10.30 claimed a creditable third and within the next two weeks a Jeannea Sunfast 3600 will join the fleet too. This should all make for some exciting and competitive racing.’
Mr Stewart added, ‘Marine insurance is a core part of our insurance portfolio, and we really wanted to get involved and support both the Guernsey Yacht Club and local sailors.’
The Rossborough-sponsored Series runs on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 10th April through to 17th May for dinghies and yachts respectively.
