A commercial account executive from Rossborough has become one of the first to be recognised in a new scheme organised by parent Arthur J Gallagher. Jamie Boyd was nominated for the new Delivering All Round Excellence scheme by Rossborough managing director Ian Stewart and chosen as one of 20 winners from 2,500 staff across Gallagher’s 70 offices.

‘The DARE scheme was originally launched in Gallagher Health in 2013 and due to its success, it has now been expanded to the whole company which has grown considerably since the acquisition of Rossborough’s owner Giles,’ said Mr Stewart.

The scheme encourages line managers to nominate colleagues that demonstrate one or more from a number of attributes including professional excellence, performance, personal development, creativity and innovation and values and attitude.

‘Jamie stood out as someone who demonstrated the behaviour they were looking for. It has been a very busy time for Rossborough in Guernsey and Jamie has always been very willing to help clients and assist his colleagues whenever he could despite having a hectic workload himself,’ said Mr Stewart.

‘Despite the increase in work, he still managed to find the time to study for his professional qualifications and we would invariably see him locked in an office at lunchtime with his head in a study book. He also gives a lot of his time mentoring junior members of staff. He was worthy of the nomination.’

The nominations were then considered by Gallagher’s UK Retail Leadership Team and the 20 winners were then invited to an exclusive event at the Churchill War Rooms in London.

Mr Boyd, who started working with Rossborough in 2001, said he was surprised to find out he had been nominated.

‘In my 13 years at Rossborough I’ve gained valuable insurance experience and have always been more than happy to help other members of the team where and when required. It is not something that I expected to be rewarded for, but it does show that hard work and commitment is appreciated by the company,’ he said.

‘I was especially delighted that the event took place at the Churchill War Rooms as the Second World War is an interest of mine and it certainly was an amazing experience. It was also interesting to meet colleagues from the wider Gallaghers group and find out more about the work they do, as the insurance market is an extremely varied industry and Gallaghers is a broker that has the ability and expertise to place covers for many different classes and complexities of insurance, and in many different parts of the world.’
