TV PERSONALITY Rob Rinder MBE, star of Strictly Come Dancing, the fearless judge in his own TV series, Judge Rinder, and more recently host of ITV’s Good Morning Britain, has been confirmed as the celebrity compere of this year’s Specsavers’ Liberation events.
Widely known for his fierce wit, biting judgements and his exotic ballroom dancing skills, Rob’s contribution to proceedings over the Liberation weekend promises to be varied and fun.
‘Rob is known to be passionate about the history of WW2 and specifically the rise of anti-Semitism since that time and this gives him an added empathy for evacuees and those who served during the war,’ says Dame Mary Perkins. ‘I’m sure he will be fascinated to hear some of the stories from our Tea Dance guests and will thoroughly enjoy the celebrations at our evening events.
‘The Hangar Balls, on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th May have been planned to maximise the fun of the Liberation public holiday weekend, as Monday is a day off for the island this year, while holding the Tea Dance earlier on Liberation Day itself will ensure a really memorable 77th anniversary celebration.’
The appearance of The Ashby Big Band and singer Tony Casino will ensure that events go with their usual ‘swing’ while the Bluebird Belles will deliver close harmonies reminiscent of the famous Andrews sisters. All the acts will combine to deliver an authentic 40’s feel and are guaranteed to provide a range of entertainment for guests.
