The Medical Specialist Group has donated £2,500 to local charity Health Connections for its Voluntary Community Transport Service.
It follows their donation of £5,250 in 2022 to part-fund an administrative coordinator to meet the increasing demand on the service.
The service’s volunteer drivers provide door to door transport for islanders with genuine unmet transport needs so that they can get to their health and wellbeing appointments and activities. Of the 750 or so appointments it supports a month, 50 are for the MSG.
"We are delighted to support MSG patients to access their appointments and we are incredibly grateful to our volunteer drivers who make this possible," said Health Connections CEO Bella Farrell. "We are really pleased that the MSG has recognised this support with their donation, and we are also thankful to Health and Social Care who cover the costs of the drivers’ mileage."
Gary Bougard, voluntary driver, said: "I joined the voluntary transport team last month and I’ve really enjoyed supporting them so far."
Paul Everitt, MSG Chief financial officer added: "Our donation allows those without the option of transport to access our services so they can receive necessary medical care. We are lucky to have Health Connections and their voluntary drivers and we are grateful for their much-needed support to our community."
