More than 20 local organisations contribute to IT director’s London Marathon fundraising success

IT company director, Jason Connolly completed the 2018 London Marathon raising a staggering £4,350 for Penny Brohn UK, a charity that supported his family after his wife was diagnosed with cancer.

He completed the 26.2 mile marathon in an impressive 4 hours and 59 minutes and surpassed his target of raising £4,000 for Penny Brohn UK. More than 20 local companies and organisations across the Island showed their support and contributed to the total raised through collection boxes, cake sales, dress down days and generous donations.  

Mr Connolly recieved incredible support from staff and patients at Bulstrode House, L’Aumone Surgery, Longfrie Surgery, St. Sampson’s Surgery, Queens Road Medical Practice and his daughter’s school Ladies College, who all placed collection boxes in their receptions. L’Aumone Surgery also kindly organised a cake sale and Mr Connolly’s firm, Next Generation IT held a dress down day. ATCL, Next Generation IT and Trust Corporation International purchased fresh fruit boxes from Mr Connolly for their workplace.

‘I am overwhelmed and humbled by the support from my family, friends and all the local companies and organisations. It has been amazing and extremley encouraging to see the community come together to help me raise as much money as possible for a truly remarkable charity. I am also especially grateful to my wife for putting up with the early starts, maranoia (pre-marathon paranoia) and her unwavering support,’ said Mr Connolly.

‘I would also like to take this opportunity to personally thank my friends, family and the following organisations for their generous donations: AJ Websters Opticians, Altair Partners Limited, Aquitaine Trust, Bank J. Safra Sarasin, BIS Operations Limited, Bright Tights Guernsey, Carey Group, Elysium Fund Management, Enrapture, Fletcher Sports, HealthXchange Pharmacy, Hepburns Insurance, International Administration Group (IAG) Guernsey, L’Aumone Surgery, Oak Trust, Overseas Trust and Pension, Richard Stapley Ltd Chartered Accountants, Richmond Fiduciary Group, Rothschild Bank International Limited, St. Sampson’s Surgery, The Ladies College Guernsey, Trust Corporation International, Queens Road Medical Practice, and Vistra Guernsey,’ Mr Connolly added.

Penny Brohn UK, established in 1983, takes on a whole approach to cancer, recognising that to be healthy, we need to pay attention to all parts of ourselves – mind, body, spirit and emotions, as these are all closely connected and work together to support the immune system and its ability to keep us well. Patrons of the charity include HRH The Prince of Wales, Suranne Jones, Tara Arkle and John Miles.
