On the 12th August the GSPCA Ambulance Warden was called who a poorly buzzard found in a field.
Sarah Langlois went to collect and rescued the bird who had a dropped wing and looking stunned.
Minnie as the bird was named was transported to the GSPCA where she has been cared for.
Yvonne Chauvel GSPCA Animal Care Supervisor said “On the evening of the 12th August GSPCA Ambulance Warden Sarah Langlois rescued and brought in a buzzard found in a field around 9pm.
“We called her Minnie and she was very stunned with a dropped wing.
“After a few days in our wildlife hospital she was showing good signs of recovery so moved her into one of our rehab aviaries.
“There she improved to the point where we decided she was fit for the wild on a sunny afternoon on the 23rd August myself and work colleague Ana opened the release hatch and she certainly didn’t hang around.
“We do love to see wildlife back in the wild and it was a wonderful release and please see the video.
“Also please support our Big Build as we are raising funds to build a new Wildlife Hospital amongst other buildings.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “What a busy summer we have had once again from rescues to releases.
“Nursing and wildlife back to health and release is no easy task and the team at the GSPCA work incredibly hard and it is so magical to see them back where they belong.
“Minnie the buzzard who wasn’t exactly mini was very poorly on arrival but with just short of two weeks of TLC we got to see her release herself in a spectacular way.
“She certainly didn’t hang about flying at speed through the release hatch and a quick glance back as a way of thanks we think.
“Despite being very busy at this time of year with wildlife we are also very close to selecting a building firm for the new Wildlife Hospital so it is highly likely the coming season of wildlife in different areas and for the seals we will look do their full rehab as we lose facilities for help in the UK while the build takes place but we will of course stabilise them here.
“This will be the BIGGEST Build in our history and we really need your support and to find out more please visit https://www.gspca.org.gg/blog/gspca-biggest-build-appeal .”
