Guernsey Waste is reminding islanders that there is still time to drop off their real Christmas trees for recycling.

Trees can be dropped off until Sunday 30 January 2022, at several locations around the island: Queux Patio Plant Centre, Le Friquet Garden Centres, Chouet green waste site and at the Longue Hougue Waste Recycling Centre.

Every year around 6,000 Christmas trees are recycled. The trees will be shredded on site before being composted along with all of the island’s other green waste which is then processed into a soil conditioner.

Recycling Officer, Tina Norman-Ross said. ‘’Our soil conditioner is great for mulching and digging into your flower and vegetable beds to improve the soil. It is available now for all Islanders to collect, free of charge, from the Chouet green waste site so everyone’s gardens can benefit in 2022.’’

The Christmas tree recycling service is free to use: ‘’Just remember to remove all your tinsel, baubles and trimmings before dropping them off,’’ said Mrs Norman-Ross.
