La Société Guernesiaise would like to thank Ronez, who have carried out work free of charge to improve the parking area at LSG’s Pre d’Enfer Nature reserve in Rue Des Bergers.

The work was carried out on Wednesday 26 January, after having a site meeting with Andy Digard the previous Monday, it was fantastic to see the work carried out so quickly and efficiently.

Regrading and resurfacing the existing car park will allow safer access for the public to enjoy this reserve. On top of this LSG is planning habitat restoration to take place throughout the year.

Jamie Hooper, La Societe Conservation officer ‘We are looking to replace old Barn Owl boxes, undertake maintenance on the willows and other trees on the reserve and trying to keep on top of Cape Ivy (a rather stubborn invasive non-native species - not to be confused with normal ivy). We are also bringing in a tree surgeon to remove a large poplar tree which is starting to lean towards the road and ultimately will be getting diggers in to improve the wetland by creating additional ponds in order to support rare dragonflies.”

Our Education team have corporate work parties booked in to help habitat management later in the year.

For further comment on the restoration taking place please contact Jamie Hooper, La Societe's Conservation Officer (jamie.hooper@cwgsy.net).
