The Environment Department is pleased to announce that Galaxy Computer Brokers Ltd has been awarded the Keep Guernsey Green Award for the second time. The business has been recently revalidated by the scheme which seeks to acknowledge local organisation’s commitments to helping Guernsey maintain a healthy, clean environment.

Each organisation which applies for the award is subject to an assessment which monitors the current actions and future commitments taken by the company to reduce waste, increase recycling, and improve energy conservation.

Stuart Moseley, Managing Director of Galaxy Computer Brokers Ltd said:

“We are delighted that Galaxy has been recertified for the Keep Guernsey Green award. Over the last 12 months we as a company have worked hard at achieving ISO accreditations in 9001, 14001 and BS 15713 and see the KGGA as a fundamental local version of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.

The KGGA shows our commitment to the local environment by reducing our own internal waste streams and energy consumption where possible plus helps us constantly question if we can identify any areas for improvement. We believe that working with most of the top global financial institutions within the Channel Islands, that the KGGA shows our commitment to the local environment as one of our core objectives in protecting our Islands.”

Steve Park, independent KGGA assessor for Galaxy Computer Brokers Ltd said:

“Galaxy practice what they preach. Not only does their business operate in the world of recycling, but they apply that practice in their own business too. They, in fact, 'walk the talk'.”

Due to the company’s day to day operations, over 60 tonnes of equipment are prevented from ending up in landfill each year.

The Keep Guernsey Green Award standards are grouped into three sections: ‘Policy and Planning’, ‘Action’ and ‘Review and Improvement’. An Assessor is assigned to a company and provides guidance and support throughout the process, which normally takes between three and nine months depending on the size and complexity of the organisation.

The award is open to any local organisation and is held for a period of three years. Further information is available at http://theoldsite.gov.gg/kgga or by emailing kgga@gov.gg
