The Guernsey branch of the Institute of Directors will hold its mid-term review next week, picking up on some of the issues raised at the annual debate last year.

In particular the topics to be explored are land use, the machinery of government and progress on Locate Guernsey – the initiative to bring new business to the island.

Alongside panellists Deputy Peter Harwood, Commerce and Employment chief Jason Moriarty and director of planning Jim Rawles will be Jimmy McLoughlin, deputy head of policy at the IoD.

His role covers the digital economy, specifically disruptive technologies, the sharing economy and start-ups.

Richard Le Tocq, chair of the Guernsey IoD, said: “It’s always good to look back at our big annual debate some six months later and see how far we’ve travelled in taking forward the main issues raised.

“We are pleased to present a panel of very relevant people who can do just that and also take questions and comments from the audience. We hope that some of our ministers and other politicians will attend.

“A lot of store has been set on the digital economy in some quarters of the business and political communities and Jimmy will be very well placed to put some perspective on that.”

The breakfast event, which is sponsored by Carey Olsen, takes place at St James on Wednesday 20th May, starting at 8 for 8.30 and concluding by 10.

There are still one or two tables of 10 available, at £100 each or individual tickets can be purchased for £10 from http://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/mid-term-breakfast-20th-may-tickets-15974532256
