Senior investment specialist David Rolland has joined the recently opened Investec Wealth & Investment (Channel Islands) Limited.

Mr Rolland’s experience in the IWIN UK firm has added the ability to provide a more traditional portfolio service for local and overseas high net worth clients and trustees.

The 31-year-old Scot, born in Edinburgh, manages private individual and trust company investment portfolios, specialising in global direct equities.

Mr Rolland, who joined Williams de Broe (now Investec) in 2010 after spending three-and-a-half years at KPMG post-university, said he was enjoying applying the skills he built up in the UK in his new role.

‘This new service gives local clients on the island the opportunity to access direct developed market equities. It’s very exciting to be part of the growth of the new Guernsey office, which has had a very positive start since its launch in November last year and has already attracted a lot of new wealth management business,’ said Mr Rolland.

‘I aim to help increase awareness of the IWIN brand and build its reputation to supplement the Investec brand name which is well respected in the island.’

IWIN (CI) director and head of office, Shaun Lacey, said Mr Rolland was a great asset to the local team.

‘David has invaluable experience in research and portfolio management and will make a perfect fit within the local office. We are delighted that he has chosen to develop his career here in Guernsey,’ said Mr Lacey.

Mr Rolland, a keen sportsman who enjoys skiing, football, rugby and golf, was educated at Merchiston Castle School in Edinburgh and graduated University of Aberdeen with an MA Honours Degree. He went on to do a Masters at Napier University in Edinburgh.

He is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (Chartered MCSI) and a CISI Chartered Wealth Manager.

Mr Rolland said that as well as relishing the prospect of using his experience to help develop the new business in the island, he is looking forward to his first Guernsey summer.

‘Guernsey is absolutely stunning and it’s so nice not to be freezing all the time and actually see some sun come the summer – Scotland doesn’t do summers anymore.’
