Guernsey Design Awards Winners Announced

The winners of Guernsey Design Awards 2022 were announced at a presentation on Friday 25th March at the Princess Royal Centre for the Performing Arts.

In his welcoming speech, John Bampkin, CEO of NP Group spoke of the psychology of buildings and the skill required to produce designs which were not just functional and beautiful to look, but that also created a sense of well-being when inside them. Something we have all become much more aware of since the pandemic.

He also praised of the exceptionally high quality of entries adding that though this was not a surprise, given the calibre of architects and contractors on island, it was made more remarkable when the conditions under which all the projects had been completed, were taken into account.

The judges then announced the winners in each of the categories which are:

Small Projects (up to 250k)
JGA - JGA Design Studio

Commercial
DLM Architects - OAK

Single Residential Renovation /Extension
Paul Langlois Architects - Forest Farm

Residential New Build
Lovell Ozanne - Shuruuq

Highly commended in Residential category
Lovell Ozanne - La Petite Carriere

Heritage
CCD Architects - Le Vallon Farm

Following the presentation of all of the judged categories was the announcement of ‘The People’s ChoiceAward. This was voted for by the public and attracted nearly 4,000 votes, and the winner was: DLM Architects – OAK.

Paul Langlois from the Guernsey Society of Architects then took to the stage to remember Mitch Sneddon who has been such an integral part of the awards since their inception, and who sadly passed away in December 2021. Paul also presented an award named in Mitch’s honour, and voted for by professionals attending the event, to CCD for La Ronde Cheminée.
