Guernsey Trees for Life will be at the Vintage Agricultural Show this weekend (5-6th August) to promote its tree and hedge planting & supply schemes. While we’re there we’ll also be appealing for more sites which are suitable for planting a minimum of 30 native trees or 50 metres of native hedging. At the same time we will be asking for volunteers to help plant later in the year.
Our principal sponsor is Channel Island Fuels Limited who donate money for every litre of fuel sold at St Martin’s Garage and Jeffrey’s Service Station. The money raised helps to fund our tree and hedge planting & supply schemes. Our secondary sponsor is BNP Paribas which helps to fund our Native Hedge Supply Scheme.

The importance of planting trees & hedging
We know our world’s climate is changing and that change is accelerating. Extreme storm events, unbearably high temperatures and wildfires across the world are an ever-present reminder of this change. Planting trees will not, by itself, halt climate change but they can, Guernsey Tree for Life is a Guernsey Registered Charity CH 301 Patrons: The Lieutenant-Governor, HE Lt Gen Richard Cripwell, CE CBE Chairman: Will Roger Secretary: Andy McCutcheon M.Arbor.A. amongst other benefits, mitigate some of the negative effects by providing cooling shade and shelter, keeping our air clean and mopping up some of our carbon dioxide emissions.
