Preparations are well underway for this year’s Rock to Rocque Bike Ride, sponsored by the Heritage Group. The ride takes place on Sunday 24 May, and the organisers are urging people to sign up online now.
The annual fund-raising event has become a firm favourite amongst local families and, now in its 22nd year, raises significant funds for Les Bourgs Hospice. Last year the event exceeded all expectations, attracting a record 1,120 cyclists and raising an impressive £40,000 for the hospice.
Organisers are keen for people to register in advance to ease queues on the day.
“Online registration was introduced last year and was very popular with cyclists. It certainly helped us on the start line too, particularly with such a great turnout”, commented event organiser Mira Domaille.
“It will be open for pre-registration until midnight on Thursday 21st May. But of course people can still simply turn up on the day as they always have. The key thing is to raise as much money as we can for Les Bourgs.”
The ride starts at the top of Les Val Des Terres again this year with additional start points at Rocquaine and Grand Rocque for those with less energy or less time, making the event an ideal family day out as well as offering something for the more serious cycling enthusiast. All cyclists finish at North Beach where a well-deserved barbecue will be available along with soft tissue massages from Avenue Clinic. (Please note that there is no parking at Les Val des Terres start point; it is a drop off point only.)
The event again coincides with the last day of Ian Brown’s 30/30 Challenge when cyclists ride for one hour every day for 30 days - also raising money for Les Bourgs Hospice. And Ian Brown is again generously donating two mountain bikes as prizes in a draw for any Rock to Rocque rider who raises more than £100 in sponsorship.

o 0845 – Park and Ride field at the top of Les Val des Terres
o 0945 – Rocquaine – in the car park near Cup and Saucer
o 1045 – Grandes Rocques
o All riders should be back at the North Beach by 1500
