On Friday 10th November, Nancy Ozanne, a volunteer with the charity Guernsey Jumbulance Holidays, will again attempt to complete a wing walk to raise money to go towards our next holiday.
Nancy has attempted this feat on two previous occasions this year, the first was cancelled due to bad weather and on the second attempt the plane went faulty and the flight again cancelled. So, it is third time lucky and Nancy hopes this time to be successful!
Guernsey Jumbulance Holidays is a locally registered charity that each year takes people on a holiday who would otherwise be unable to travel and get a well-earned break from their normal routine.
For people who thought they would never go on a holiday again we help to make the impossible, possible.
This year our charity took eleven people with extra care needs on a holiday to Tiverton, Nancy was one of the volunteers on the holiday caring for one of our ‘VIPs’ and was inspired to raise money for our next holiday by completing the wing walk. Many of our VIPs had not been on a holiday for a very long time.
Nancy is also a senior carer working in the community, and rings her wealth of experience to our holidays and for the person she is caring for.
The wing walk will take place at the Dunkeswell Aerodrome in Honiton, Devon.
Nancy said ‘I really hope that on this third occasion I can get airborne and complete this challenge to raise money for a charity that I am pleased to be a part of. To be able to take people on holiday who otherwise could not travel is really satisfying. The team that make this happen really care for everyone we take away and ensure that they have a memorable holiday. I want to help make the next holiday happen for another group of deserving people by raising money by completing this wing walk. I am quite nervous but want to complete it for this great cause’.
Anyone wishing to donate money towards Nancy’s Wing Walk can do so by going online to Giving.gg and selecting ‘Donate to Event’ – ‘Wing Walk for Jumbulance’
Next year, the charity will take ten people on a pilgrimage holiday to Lourdes in the South of France using the charity Across and their coach like ambulance, this allows our VIPs to rest and have all the comforts needed for the ten-hour drive. The charity is seeking nominations for people who may wish to go on this trip next May.
Nancy is available for interviews on Monday and Tuesday and after the wing walk has taken place, Nancy can be contacted on 07781 146051.
