Dementia Friendly Guernsey are presenting a festival of relaxed musical performances from 12.00 to 17.00 and hope that the festival will provide a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable space for people living with dementia and their carers to share music together.
There will be performances from Mike Le Huray, Singing from the Heart Choir, ATouch of Country, Charlie Sherbourne and the Nightbirdsand Clameur de Haro
Food and refreshments will be available. Parking will be at Home Farm with drop off available at the Folk Museum by prior arrangement.
Guy Mitchell, Organiser of the Festival and a trustee of Dementia Friendly Guernsey tells us “Building on the success of the festival last year we are planning to host the event annually and have a great line up again this year. The event is about dementia friendly performances that are designed for people living with dementia to enjoy with their families, friends and carers.
The performances include small changes to create a more comfortable environment. Members of the audience are welcome to come and go during the show, we'll reduce the volume for a more relaxed atmosphere.
The National Trust courtyard offers us a lovely space to host the event where you can visit the Folk and Costume museum and reminisce of days gone by.”
Julie Bulpitt, Coordinator and trustee added “we are especially pleased to be working with the National Trust of Guernsey who are making their Folk and Costume Museum available to us for the afternoon and to Highfield House Care Home for their generous sponsorship of the costs allowing us to make this a free event for those living with dementia, their families and carers.”
The capacity of the Courtyard is limited and tickets are expected to go quickly and can be booked via Eventbritehttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-annual-dementia-friendly-festival-2024-tickets-915371860877
