Seven different organisations across Guernsey and Jersey were recognised for their excellence, creativity and innovation with awards at the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s ‘2015 Channel Islands Marketing Awards’ last week.

Around 300 marketing and communications professionals gathered for an exclusive awards event on 20 March, held at The Royal Yacht Hotel. The inaugural black-tie pan-Channel Islands awards featured an awards ceremony, hosted by ITV news and sport presenter Murray Dron, followed by dinner and an exclusive after-party.

At the ceremony, Healthhaus were rewarded with a hat-trick of awards, picking up awards for ‘Best Brand Campaign’ and ‘Best Integrated Campaign’, as well as winning the ‘Overall Marketing Excellence Award’, which for the first time this year was selected by attendees at the event through a dedicated text voting facility sponsored by Airtel-Vodafone.

In addition, St John Ambulance Jersey were recognised in the ‘Best Use of PR’ category, whilst Jersey Business picked up the award for ‘Best Use of Media’ and White Rock Brewery won in the ‘Marketing Achievement on a Small Budget’ category. The ‘International Marketing Award’ was won by HSBC Expat, and Jersey Heritage were successful in the ‘Sustained Marketing Achievement Award’. Oi were recognised as ‘Marketing Team of the Year’ and Joe McKenna of 4Insight was awarded ‘Student Marketer of the Year’.

A number of organisations were also highly commended, including Elian in ‘Best Brand Campaign’, JT Group in ‘Best Use of Media’, Seymour Hotels in ‘Marketing Achievement on a Small Budget’ and ‘International Marketing Award’, States of Jersey Police in ‘Best Integrated Marketing Campaign’, and HSBC Expat and JT Group in the ‘Sustained Marketing Achievement’ category.

Winners of the awards were selected by a high calibre panel of judges which this year included Bronagh Hunt, Global Marketing Manager for Sailor Jerry; Sarah Pinch, President of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR); and Suzanne Cole, Director of Best of Wales and a Senior Lecturer in Marketing.

Steve Cartwright, Chairman of the Channel Islands CIM Branch, said: “The CIM has been hosting an awards event for 18 years in Jersey now, but this year’s CIM Awards took on a new look and feel. For 2015, not only did we reach out to our colleagues in Guernsey for the very first time, we also decided to create our own Channel Islands ‘Oscars’, giving Channel Islands marketers and communications professionals an opportunity to enjoy an evening of celebration with a presentation to Award winners and a fabulous after party to congratulate both our successful winners and finalists.

“As is reflected in the work of the winning organisations, there is so much creativity and innovation amongst the marketing community in the islands, and it is right we should have a chance to recognise that. Congratulations go to all this year’s winners and finalists.”

Sponsors and partners of the 2015 Channel Islands Marketing Awards included Delta Production Services, The Beach Communication, PBS Media, Coca-Cola, Jersey Evening Post and Guernsey Press, Switch Digital, Airtel-Vodafone and CIPR Channel Islands.
