Guernsey won a resounding vote of confidence from the cookery experts on BBC One’s prestigious Saturday Kitchen on 14 September.
Celebrity chef Ching He Huang was asked by the host Matt Tebbutt about her upcoming visit to Guernsey at the invitation of local charity Guernsey Community Savings.
She explained that on 5 October she will be hosting a Gala dinner at China Red to raise funds for GCS which helps and advises people who have been financially excluded.
Wine expert Olly Smith, who grew up on Jersey, supported Ching’s recommendation to visit Guernsey because it has “wonderful sea food and great spuds” and host Tebbutt said “Come to Guernsey - Rock and Roll!”
“We’re really looking forward to welcoming Ching back to Guernsey.” said Peter Neville, GCS chair.
“She has made so many friends here and having her host the event for a second year is wonderful. Getting an endorsement like this on a flagship BBC programme is fantastic.”
As well as hosting the Gala dinner, which sold out weeks ago, Ching will give a cookery demonstration at Grow for crew members and their families.
