Collas Crill's head of Wills and Estates in Guernsey, Joanne Seal, has been named as a finalist in the STEP Private Client Awards 2015.

Already one of Private Client Adviser's 'Top 35 Under 35' and a Citywealth 'Future Leader', Joanne has now been shortlisted as Young Practitioner of the Year in the Society of Trust and Estates Practitioners' national awards. She is the only Channel Islander to be named in the category.

Joanne has made a big impact in her relatively short career. At only 30, four years after being admitted to the Roll, Joanne was promoted to head Collas Crill’s Wills and Probate team in Guernsey. Since then her department has seen double digit growth in income and client take on year on year.

Collas Crill's Head of Property, Wills and Estates Jason Green said: "We are delighted that Joanne has been recognised by STEP in its Private Client awards. She has made a real contribution to developing Collas Crill's Wills practice and the Guernsey community has benefitted from her education and voluntary initiatives.

"Joanne is the only Channel Islander to make the category, with stiff competition from top City rising stars. Joanne has worked incredibly hard in recent years to build her own department. Her approachable and friendly manner lends itself perfectly to the private client work that she does but, with this work now moving into more complex cross-border advice for internationally mobile private clients, this nomination also sees her formally acknowledged as a serious player for the complex private client work that she now undertakes."

Joanne is well known to many in the Guernsey community. With Guernsey's recent major inheritance law change, Joanne managed a project to individually contact more than 6,000 Collas Crill wills clients to advise them of the changes in the law and how they may alter their personal circumstances.

Joanne’s varied private practice means that she has a wide range of clients, diverse in their size and complexity of needs, from individual members of the public to UHNW and local financial institutions and trust companies to foreign law firms and asset holders.

With her range of expertise Joanne has been instructed to assist on a number of high profile cases, notable examples including advising and assisting the Saudi Royal family and acting in Guernsey probate matters in relation to the estates of deceased celebrities.

Joanne has also found time to undertake the STEP Certificate in Trusts and Estates, and is working towards the STEP Advanced Certificate in International Succession and Probate, having recognised the changing nature of Collas Crill’s private client base and their international needs.
The winners of the STEP Private Client Awards 2014 will be announced in London in September.
