CICRA chief executive to speak at next Heritage Insurance IoD lunch

The Heritage Insurance-sponsored Institute of Directors (IoD) monthly lunch seminars are continuing the infrastructure theme and the most recent session tackled education in Guernsey.

Guernsey Education Department education officer Simon Barrett spoke about the importance of excellence in education at last Friday’s seminar.

Mr Barrett suggested Guernsey had the ability to become a world-renowned centre for education. He promoted ideas including a ‘Flipping the Classroom’ technique in which teachers would be encouraged to film and review their own lessons.

In the coming months the IoD will host a series of speakers at their lunches, including Public Services Department minister, Paul Luxon, and His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor.

The next seminar, on Friday 23 May at Moores Hotel, will be given by Channel Islands Competition and Regulatory Authorites (CICRA) interim chief executive, Michael Byrne on regulated infrastructure, specifically telecommunications in Guernsey. His talk will look at the current business connectivity market review and the allocation of the 4G spectrum for mobile operators.
