The Butterfield Challenge Trophy, open to all handicap golfers, returned to the Royal Guernsey Golf Club (RGGC) on Saturday 23 April. The event saw 232 players take to the fairways at L’Ancresse golf course to compete in the Open Foursomes Stableford tournament.
Foresomes stableford sees golfers compete in teams of two. Using only one ball per team, the two players take it in turn to hit shots until the ball is putted. The team that completes the hole in the fewest shots wins points, which goes towards their overall game score. The objective therefore, unlike the traditional scoring methods, is to have the highest score.
Roy Bushby, RGGC’s Club General Manager, said: “We were very pleased to be able to welcome competitors back to the course for what is always an exciting and interesting day of golf. Once again, we are incredibly grateful to Butterfield for their continued support of this popular event.”

The winners of the competition were Andrew and Fay Boyd, with an impressive score of 46.
