The annual Bubble Run took place at the KGV this morning, Sunday 14th July.
Now in its third year, the “cutest fun run on the island” is specifically for children aged 2yr to 4yr and sees hundreds of children running through millions of bubbles as they make their way around the course.
The event is organised by Laurel Le Tocq who runs Little Champs sports classes for toddlers.
Laurel said: “I love this event! It’s so cute and the children just love all the bubbles. Chloe from Guernsey Bubbles comes along and is just brilliant. There are bubbles everywhere!! It’s a really nice way of getting children to enjoy being active, and it brings the whole family together as they descend onto the KGV to support their little ones.” Tamara Timothy was at the fun run with her family, with four year old Teddy enjoying taking part in the run with his dad: “Our whole family loved the bubble run”, she said.
“Laurel has created a really special event with a wonderful atmosphere. My four year old son had so much fun racing his dad around two laps of the pitch and playing with the bubbles, while his eight year old brother had a great time cheering him on from the sidelines and enjoying the entertainment.” The Bubble Run is a fundraising event, with all proceeds being donated to Healing Waves Ocean Therapy who are coming to Guernsey again this summer to deliver adaptive surfing sessions for children and adults with disabilities.
Tamara added: “We’re really grateful for all the families raising money for Healing Waves as my eldest son Barney will hopefully benefit from their visit later this year. As he’s a full-time wheelchair user, any type of water sports are really inaccessible for him but he absolutely loves being in the sea, so we can’t wait to get him in the water surfing with the Healing Waves team.”
The visit is facilitated by Laurel who is really looking forward to their return this summer. “The time Healing Waves spent with us last year was so emotional.” She said. “Despite being based in Jersey, I was determined to bring them over to benefit our community for the first time last year. I suspect it will now be an annual event.” The Bubble Run raised £1812 for the charity. They’re visiting the island from 22-29 September
