Bowel Cancer Guernsey is inviting islanders to dig out their boldest tie or scarf once again this year for Loud Tie Day 2024 on Friday 26th January.

The local charity’s annual campaign seeks to increase awareness of bowel cancer and to continue raising vital funds to aid its crucial work within the community.

To show their support for the charity, islanders are encouraged to don their most vibrant neckwear, whether that be in the workplace, schools or within the community. Donations made to Bowel Cancer Guernsey will contribute directly to supporting the charity's endeavours.

Anne Brouard, Chair for Bowel Cancer Guernsey, said: ‘Loud Tie Day is a fun but powerful community event, serving as a poignant reminder that bowel cancer can affect anyone. The campaign serves as a vital platform to promote awareness and understanding of the disease. Our aim is to equip islanders with this knowledge, with the hope that it will lead to early diagnosis and treatment.

‘Here at Bowel Cancer Guernsey, we express our gratitude to everyone who gets involved with this event and recognises its potential to have a life-saving impact. We can’t wait to see everyone’s creative neckwear again this year!’

To mark the occasion, the Bowel Cancer Guernsey team will also be hosting a Fibre Friday Porridge Giveaway at the Liberation monument by North Beach Car Park from 7.30-9.30am on Friday 26th January.

Submarine, a website design company based in Guernsey, has been a key supporter for the charity over the past year.

Director at Submarine, Don Lowe, said: ‘We were proud to support Bowel Cancer Guernsey with the revamp of their website last year and further our support with Loud Tie Day. It’s a charity close to our hearts and the work they do in the community is invaluable. We hope everyone gets involved. If anything, it’s a fun Friday attire!’
