This year’s Cobo Bay Balcony Gigs have entertained thousands of people but they have also raised more than £9,000 for the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation and Bright Beginnings Children’s Centre.

The six summertime gigs, which see visiting tribute acts and local bands take to the balcony, had their future secured when Ravenscroft, who have been supporting sponsor for a number of years, Ravenscroft Construction, Pula Limited and Randall’s stepped in as sponsors. The two charities, which have close connections with the sponsors, were then offered the opportunity to do collections.

"It’s been an amazing summer for the Cobo Bay Balcony Gigs and every one has seen huge crowds of people enjoying the music from the coast road and on the beach below. They are real family events and so it is lovely that two local charities, which provide invaluable support to local families, have benefitted. My thanks to Ravenscroft, Ravenscroft Construction, Pula Limited and Randall’s for their incredible support of these much-loved events," said organiser David Nussbaumer.

Volunteers from both charities spent the afternoons collecting money or selling raffle tickets and will use the money to continue the work they do with families from the Bailiwick.

"The Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation needs to raise £156,000 each year to continue providing its services for local families and helping parents of premature babies and critically ill children. We are incredibly grateful to the organisers and sponsors of the Balcony Gigs for allowing us to be one of the beneficiaries and our thanks to everyone who attended for their generosity," said co-founder Jo Priaulx.

Bright Beginnings Children’s Centre supports parents, carers and children from conception to the age of four and the money raised will be go towards the running of its services.

"As a charity focused on supporting parents, carers and children, it was wonderful to see so many families enjoying the live music. We are extremely grateful to those involved in the Balcony Gigs for inviting us to raise money and to everyone who donated towards the cost of our vital services," said Bright Beginnings’ CEO Lisa Blondel.

Mr Nussbaumer said that the 2025 dates had been confirmed starting on 4th May and ending on 24th August. Tributes to Ed Sheeran, Madness, Oasis, AC/DC and Dolly Parton will all take to the balcony with support from local bands The Rubix, City Limits, Neon Fire and Element 6. The Big Band Collective, which features more than 40 locals musicians and singers, will be headlining on 15th June.
