AFM have launched their Charity of the Year application process to be the chosen charity in Guernsey for 2020.
AFM are committed to supporting local communities across the Channel Islands and have a dedicated Community Support Committee in Guernsey. The committee meet regularly to discuss support and fundraising ideas for our chosen charity and also consider other charity support initiatives.
Following an internal section process, a charity is chosen for AFM to partner each the year. The chosen charity will receive donations raised through various fundraising schemes conducted throughout the year. Some of the recent fundraising initiatives we have undertaken in the last year include a charity weight loss challenge, dress down days, cake sales, Christmas raffle.
Where possible AFM also offer support by volunteering our building services expertise, assisting with the purchase of equipment and raising the profile of the charity within our local community.
To apply you must be a member of the Association of Guernsey Charities and you must support people, animals or activity in the Island. All applications will be considered and the closing date is Friday 1st November 2019.
Martyn Pipet, Operations Manager and Chair of the Community Support Committee, said, “Over the last few years we have been lucky enough to work with some amazing charities in Guernsey including Wigwam, the Guernsey Blind Association and GROW and we take away something amazing every year from each charity. This is our fourth year of having a chosen charity and we feel that the donated money has really made a difference.”
Martyn reiterated that, “The company’s staff really bond over the chosen charity each year in each Island, there is a real buzz when our staff attend in a voluntary capacity at various events as well as the fun we have in the office ranging from being dressed up for Halloween to cake sales and then having to do a sponsored slim after eating all the cakes!”
Applying to be the 2020 Charity is easy, all you have to do is fill out a form on the AFM website: amalgatedfm.com/charityoftheyear. You will have to describe how we can help over the next year, we will then shortlist and put it to our committee who will decide on the final project.
The closing date for applications is 1st November 2019.
