The GSPCA really could do so much without its amazing team of volunteers and supporters which have helped for over 150 years.

Last night the GSPCA held the 5th Volunteer Induction Evening of 2023.

11 new faces joined us for an induction where they were greeted by team member Sarah Harrison and then they got to meet GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne for their induction.

From the Committee to those that walk dogs, fund raisers to those that help with admin, gardeners to those helping with IT, the companies who send their staff to help to so many others the list goes on and on and those attended were interested in many of the roles.

With the GSPCA providing 24/7 we couldn’t do so much without our amazing team.

In recent years with all the challenges our volunteers have really been on the frontline and especially our GSPCA Animal Ambulance Wardens and we cannot thank them enough.

The Wardens are volunteers that go out all hours to help sick, injured and stray animals and are part of a team that has spanned nearly 50 years in providing and filling this volunteer role.

From rescuing animals stuck up chimneys to rounding up stray farm animals the Wardens are truly incredible and even get calls for snakes that turn out to be a geocache.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We are hugely grateful to all of our team from our staff to volunteers and indeed our supporters who help ensure we can do our 24/7 work for over 150 years.”

“Last night we held the 5th Volunteer Induction Evening of 2023 and we were amazed with a full room of 11 new faces.”

"It was lovely to see they didn't mind one of our foreign snakes who is currently in the training room."

“It started at 630pm at the Animal Shelter and it was so wonderful to meet everyone.”

“This morning the first of them started helping walk dogs and tomorrow another starts helping an any animal area, Saturday another starts dog walking and the others start over the next month which we are very excited about.”

“We have another 3 Volunteer Induction Evenings set for this year.”
