MADMAX Race Team driver Darren Warwick did Guernsey proud at this weekend's FIA Hill Climb, achieving first in class and 13th position overall.
The best professional circuit racers and hill climb drivers in Europe compete in the FIA European hill climb championship, which features the most advanced single seat racer cars and 3000cc V8 engines.
Guernseyman Darren Warwick was the only person in his class (E2-SS 1600-2000cc.) to complete his run in under two minutes (1.54.796), and the only one to complete both qualifying runs in under four minutes.
In the entire event, which had hundreds of entrants, he finished 13th, with all those ahead of him in the bigger 3000cc V8 cars.
"Special thanks goes to Zef Eisenberg & MADMAX Race Team for helping me put this all together, get to Switzerland and achieve first in class," said Mr Warwick.
Zef Eisenberg, from the MADMAX Race Team, said he was proud to have Mr Warwick, who only recently joined MADMAX, as part of the team.
"I'm very pleased with Darren's performance. After watching him perform at the Guernsey British nationals, and listening to his technical knowledge of his race car, I had little doubt that he would perform well, and I was right. He drove amazingly well."
The end of race report said that Mr Warwick delivered one of the "most sparkling performances" of the event.
