Utmost Worldwide has become the first financial services company in Guernsey to achieve the Community Champion accreditation issued by the island's Environmental & Social Impact Monitor.
The ESI Monitor is a non-profit organisation that aims to instil sustainability through the process of business accreditation.
It does this by carrying out independent assessments of the environmental and social measures taken by companies.
Before achieving accreditation, businesses much show a commitment to supporting local charities and community initiatives. In keeping with this, Utmost Worldwide has been working to support local charities which are nominated by staff members each year, with a range of events held to raise funds.
"We are delighted to be the first financial services company in Guernsey to achieve the Community Champion accreditation," said Head of Operational Governance and Customer Services at Utmost Worldwide, Tony Mealing. "This reflects our dedication towards the local community and the strong degree of support from members of staff in raising funds for very worthwhile causes within Guernsey."
Next year, the company will also celebrate ten years of sponsoring the Island Games.
"I am very pleased to have worked with Utmost in order to enable their accreditation as a Community Champion, in addition to their existing environmental accreditation," added Managing Director of ESI Monitor, Marc Laine. "We look forward to working with other companies to increase the level of awareness of corporate sustainability, benchmarking companies against each other and enabling effective independent measurement of progress towards sustainable development goals."
