Two at Mourant win STEP Excellence Award

Two professionals at Mourant have been recognised in a global award program, run by the leading body for trust and private client professionals, STEP.

Senior Associate Sophie Denman and General Counsel for Mourant Governance Services Jamie Wisbey have both been presented with STEP Excellence Awards, recognising them as top scoring students at distinction level globally in their exams.

The colleagues completed the STEP Diploma in International Trust Management last year and were both awarded a distinction, along with a prestigious full membership of STEP.

Ms Denman has been recognised for her diploma mark, while Mr Wisbey achieved his award for his performance in the STEP Advanced Certificate in Company Law and Practice.

Ms Denman also achieved the highest score globally for her Company Law and Practice exam in 2018.

She is a lawyer in the firm's International Trust and Private Client practice, where she advises trustees, beneficiaries and settlers in relation to a broad spectrum of contentious and non-contentious trust, foundation and private client matters. Ms Denman specialises in Guernsey, Cayman and BVI law and is based in the firm's London office.

Mr Wisbey works in the Mourant Governance Services team, providing a range of fiduciary, administration and governance services. His main areas of interest include corporate governance, innovation, commercial contracts, data protection, outsourcing and terms of business. He is also a director of in-house and client companies.
