TPA Steps Up To Support Pink Ladies Sunset Coastal Walk

Thursday 27 June 2019

This year’s Pink Ladies Sunset Coastal Walk is taking place this Saturday, 29 June, sponsored by Local marketing and digital agency TPA.

The walk, which has been held every two years since 2007, aims to raise vital funds and awareness of breast cancer through sponsorship. Since its launch, the event has raised nearly half a million pounds to fund vital hospital breast unit equipment to help with the diagnostics and treatment of breast cancer.

Funds raised have also gone towards supporting breast cancer patients in the Bailiwick by helping them with post-surgery bras and prosthesis, cleaning, ironing and treatments.

More recently, the charity has worked with the States to improve the facilities for women undergoing investigation and screening at the Guernsey Breast unit.

The popular event invites women of all ages and abilities to walk together, dressed in the charity’s signature pink, for an evening of celebrating the charity's aims.

Once again there will be two routes available for participants to choose from. Route A is 10.5 miles long and starts from Grandes Rocques at 6:00 pm. Walkers will follow the coastal path round to Bordeaux and on to Market Square in town. Route B is a modest 3.5 miles long with participants meeting in Bordeaux car park at 8:00 pm before making their way into town.

Participants along with their family and friends are then invited to attend the after party at the Market Square, with food and drink available and live entertainment provided by ABBA Sensation.

Tony Tostevin, CEO at TPA, said: “As a local business, we are always keen to show our support of charities that support islanders across the Bailiwick. The work that The Pink Ladies does in helping local families affected by breast cancer and highlighting the importance of screening and regular check-ups is vital. We hope this event proves to be both fun and rewarding for everyone taking part."

Maaike Kreckeler at Pink Ladies said: "We’re so pleased to have TPA join us as a key sponsor of this year’s walk. The funds raised from this popular event are vital in raising awareness of the work we do in supporting women across the Bailiwick battling breast cancer.

"Each year the walk has gained in popularity and we’re hoping that even more friends and supporters will join us this year to support us while enjoying a beautiful walk along Guernsey’s stunning coastline.

"We would just like to add that the official walk t-shirts can be purchased from TPA and PrintmyTees, the details of which are on the registration forms. Speaking of which, we are urging ladies to send their forms in as soon as possible."

In addition to raising awareness of breast cancer and the importance of early detection, The Pink Ladies offers emotional, practical and financial support for women in Guernsey with breast cancer. For more information, visit www.pinkladies.org.gg.
