Cees Vermaas has been appointed the new CEO of The International Stock Exchange's parent company.
He joins as the Chief Executive of The International Stock Exchange Group Ltd having previously held executive positions at several international exchanges, including CME Europe Ltd, Euronext Amsterdam and NYSE Euronext.
“I am delighted to welcome Cees to TISE," said Chair of TISEG, Jon Moulton. "He has considerable expertise from within some of the major international exchange groups and I look forward to seeing him build on the growth we have achieved recently and drive the business onwards to greater things in the future.”
Mr Vermaas has more than 20 years' experience working within international financial market infrastructure and, prior to that, spent a decade working in IT and programme management roles with Philips and Delta Lloyd Group, both of which are based in the Netherlands.
“I am really pleased to be joining TISE," Mr Vermaas said. "I have seen the development of the Exchange during the last few years and I am excited by the challenge of using my previous experience to capitalise on the opportunities to grow the business.
"I can’t wait to get started and embark on that journey to work with, and create value for, our stakeholders, including staff, members, issuers and shareholders.”
Mr Vermaas is relocating to Guernsey to take on the role and will join the Board of TISEG as CEO and Director on 2 November, subject to regulatory confirmation.
“Despite the covid-19 pandemic, we had some outstanding candidates and Cees was very much at the top of that pile," added Mr Moulton.
"I would like to welcome Cees to TISE on behalf of the Board of Directors and my successor, Charlie Geffen, who I know is looking forward to working with him closely over the coming years. I am looking forward to seeing the Exchange grow from strength to strength under Cees’ very capable leadership.”
As previously announced, Mr Moulton will be succeeded as TISEG Chair from January by Charlie Geffen, who currently holds the position of Chair of the regulatory subsidiary, The International Stock Exchange Authority Ltd.
