The Guernsey Alzheimer's Association has benefitted from the generosity of Guernsey's property and construction industry, following a raffle held at the recent Guernsey Property and Construction Awards.
The sum of £2,460 was handed over to the charity's representatives, Chairman Stephen Collas and Julie Thompson.
Mr Collas said: “The Guernsey Alzheimer’s Association’s mission is caring for the carers of loved ones with Alzheimer’s and other Dementia’s.
“In addition to providing friendship, advice, information and recreation, the charity trains and employs Sitters who take the place of the Carer, for two or three hours per week, giving them valuable respite.
“The year-round cost of one Sitter Service to one client, is about two thousand pounds, without any charge to the carer. We employ twelve Sitters.
“We are very grateful to the founders of the Guernsey Property and Construction Awards for their generous donation towards this lifeline Sitter Service.”
Tim Guilbert, co-founder of the Guernsey Property and Construction Awards said: “We are extremely grateful to everyone who attended the Awards and who gave so generously for this very worthwhile local charity. I would also like to thank all our sponsors and others who kindly donated prizes.”
