Guernsey Dairy has made its mark in the culinary world by securing ten stars at The Guild of Fine Food’s Great Taste Awards 2024.

The achievement marks an improvement on the five awards the Dairy received in 2021.

In its second time of entering the competition, Guernsey Dairy has been awarded three coveted "2-star" ratings for its Full Cream Milk, Skimmed Milk, and Mild Cheese.

These products were recognised for their outstanding quality, earning praise from the judges for their “flavour and craftsmanship”.

Additionally, the Dairy received seven “1-Star” awards for its Low-Fat Milk, Organic Milk, Lactose Free Milk, Whipping Cream, Salted Butter, Unsalted Butter and Mature Cheese.

The Great Taste Awards, organised by The Guild of Fine Foods, is the world’s largest food and drink accreditation scheme.

This year, there were 13,672 entries from 3,500 companies across 115 countries.

Guernsey Dairy can continue to display the black and gold Great Taste logo on all its award-winning products.

Quality and Compliance Manager at Guernsey Dairy, Alex Tielles said: “Receiving five additional awards compared to our first year is fantastic. It’s a testament to our team’s dedication to quality and excellence. The feedback from the judges has been overwhelmingly positive.

“The outstanding raw milk from our pedigree herds of Guernsey cows, carefully managed by our local dairy farmers, gives us the best start to making these amazing products.”

Achieving a 2-Star rating signifies an “Outstanding” product, a distinction given to less than 10% of entries.

Meanwhile, a 1-Star rating denotes “Simply delicious” products, representing approximately 25% of entrants.

Andrew Tabel, Managing Director at Guernsey Dairy said: “This recognition received from The Great Taste Awards is great news for the Dairy and the island. This demonstrates our ability to produce products that can compete against the world’s best producers.

"The achievement also recognises the hard work and dedication of our staff who work incredibly hard to ensure our customers get to enjoy some of the best dairy products in the world. This, against the backdrop and complexities of operating a food production facility that has reached the end of its useful service life.”
