Sure completes Airtel acquisition

Thursday 07 November 2024

The telecoms company states the £48 million investment will “pave the way for the development of a brand-new, world-class 5G mobile network”.

The take over comes with a few promises of “significant benefits” for customers, including faster speeds, enhanced coverage, unmatched security, and with a smaller environmental footprint.

Sure Group CEO, Alistair Beak, expressed his enthusiasm for the future.

“Today is an exciting day for the future of Channel Island telecommunications," he said.

“We want existing and new customers to know that the large investment we’re making will lead to significant improvements to their connectivity, speeds and coverage, as well as value for money through innovative products and services. The new mobile network, complemented by our extensive fibre network, will mean we can stay ahead of future demand driven by our increasingly digital lifestyles.”

Mr Beak goes on to say he wants to warmly welcome the Airtel Vodafone team, highlighting their skills and experience that will be instrumental in delivering exceptional service to customers.

Sure's statement continues emphasising that they want to ensure a smooth transition for both companies and their customers. In the initial phase, both companies will continue to operate independently. Customers can find further information on the Sure and Airtel Vodafone websites, or by visiting their respective stores or calling customer service numbers.

They’ve committed to keeping all current Sure and Airtel plans for existing customers for the next three years, and to keep Airtel-Vodafone’s entry-level ‘Basic’ plan available to existing Airtel and new customers, also for three years.

The acquisition was officially completed on 31 October, 2024.
