SuperSavvySavers Guernsey launches

Wednesday 08 May 2024

A new initiative has been launched in Guernsey aiming to "help ease the burden during the cost of living crisis".

The women behind SuperSavvySavers say they are offering "locally based money saving tips" along with information about offers, deals, and discounts available in local shops, restaurants, and supermarkets.

Kat Gillespie, founding member of SuperSavvySavers said the price comparisons will compare 25 everyday essential items such as bread, eggs, cheese, pasta, rice, and vegetables at all local supermarkets including M&S, Waitrose, Co-op, Alliance, Iceland, and Morrisons.

“We’re all feeling the pinch right now and many of us are having to make cutbacks," she said. "I’ve definitely started to shop around a lot more and I’ve noticed a big difference in some prices for the same products at various local supermarkets.”

Fellow founding member, Sarah de Carteret said they want to help other working parents save money.

“I have a full-time job, but my pay doesn’t stretch quite so far these days," she said.

"I wouldn’t go so far to say that we’re struggling, but I have started to budget and meal plan more and the kids certainly get way less treats than they did a year ago.”
