Experienced international businessman and States of Guernsey board member John Hollis has been appointed as the new Chairman of St John Guernsey and St John Emergency Ambulance Service.
Mr Hollis has had a long international business career, primarily in high-volume retail customer services and logistics, with clients including Tesco, BP, Procter and Gamble, Mars Confectionery, Sainsbury’s, Marks & Spencer, Coca-Cola, B&Q, and The Independent.
He has held roles as a Non-States Member for the past nine years, first in Treasury & Resources and, for the past five years, for the States Trading Supervisory Board. During that time, he has been involved in two significant reviews of the St John Emergency Ambulance Service’s operations.
“My States-related roles are scheduled to end shortly,” said Mr Hollis. “Based on my past exposure to the Emergency Ambulance Service, I am delighted to have the opportunity over the next few years to help front-line personnel at St John continue to deliver their outstanding care and services.
"The wider St John organisation has a strong long-term reputation for being innovative and I am confident that will continue into the future for the benefit of Islanders.”
Andrew Henton, Knight Commander of St John in the Bailiwick of Guernsey added: “We are delighted to welcome John as our new Chairman. He is very familiar with St John, and the ambulance service in particular, following the work he did supporting the States of Guernsey during its review of health care provision in the Bailiwick.
"His wider wealth of business and leadership experience will be of huge benefit across the different sections of the St John organisation in Guernsey.”
