Babbé’s dispute resolution team is further expanding with the appointment of two experienced South African litigators, Gareth Parr and Ryan Courtney.
Both come with more than 11 years’ specialist litigation experience.
Mr Parr was admitted as an attorney in South Africa in 2009, and has gained significant experience in corporate finance disputes and contentious insolvency matters at a top Johannesburg firm. He is enthusiastic about joining Babbé’s dispute resolution team.
“The team are involved in some extremely interesting cases and I am excited to work alongside some of the best and most experienced offshore litigators in the business,” he said.
Mr Courtney qualified as an attorney in South Africa in 2010 and has a track record of advising on and managing high value commercial disputes. He not only brings a wealth of legal experience to Guernsey, but he is a talented hockey player and coach and has already found his place in local sport.
He said: “I am looking forward to working for a Tier 1 ranked firm with an established history and successful track record. It is a privilege to work in a team of such high calibre litigators and my goal is to build a solid reputation that compares.”
Babbé’s managing partner, Andrew Laws, said: “Our dispute resolution team is one of the largest in Guernsey representing international clients in the most complex and high value cases. The appointment of Gareth and Ryan will strengthen our offering even further and is vital to servicing the increasing demand for our advice. They bring with them a considerable breadth of talent and skill and we are very excited to have them on board.”
