Savills buys part of Martel Maides

Savills has bought Martel Maides Limited, creating the firm’s first residential presence on the island.

Originally established in 1972, Martel Maides Ltd has built up a reputation in local and open market residential sales and residential lettings, incorporating a general practice commercial business offering agency work, professional services and management.

The team of 16 employees have all joined Savills with immediate effect, and the residential team will continue to be led by Martel Maides directors Richard Fox, Keith Enevoldsen and Claire Holliday from its existing St Peter Port address. The office will have full Savills branding put up over the coming months, trading as Savills incorporating Martel Maides in the interim.

The commercial team, led by Terry Gardiner, will join the existing Savills Channel Islands commercial business, which is headed up by Tony Rowbotham and based in Smith Street.  The acquisition does not include the Martel Maides auction business.

James Sparrow, Chief Executive Officer, Savills UK & EMEA comments: “This acquisition means that Savills will now be able to offer a full multi-disciplinary service across the Channel Islands.  The Martel Maides team is known for their very high levels of client service and expertise, which will be a perfect fit with our existing, and growing, residential business in Jersey.”

Richard Fox of Martel Maides says: “We see this as a real strategic development, not just to add extra depth and support to our existing client base but also to open up new opportunities where the Savills brand can play an important part in promoting Guernsey to wider markets.”

“As well as strengthening our core local business, we’ll be looking to work closely with our sister office in Jersey and linking with the two ‘Locate’ government agencies to attract greater inward investment to the Channel Islands in general.”
