The company building Guernsey's new post-16 campus is wanting to meet local contractors to ensure it buys as much manpower and materials on island as possible.
The contract for demolishing the old St Peter Port Secondary School and building the new post-16 campus on the site at Les Ozouets went to ROK Group - a Jersey based construction firm.
Now the demolition work at the old school is almost complete, attention is turning to building the long awaited new facility in its place.
The campus will offer learning spaces for The Guernsey Institute - bringing together the College of Further Education, the GTA University Centre, and the Institute for Health and Social Care on one site, alongside the Princess Royal Centre for Performing Arts.
The foundations will also be put in for a new sixth form centre but as no funding has been agreed to pay for the actual building of that facility yet, it won't be going any further at the moment.
The agreed building work should see the main post-16 campus for the TGI open by early 2027.
That building work will be overseen and coordinated by ROK Group but the bulk of the work is likely to be carried out by Guernsey firms who will be appointed as contractors by ROK Group.
Any local contractors keen to work on the project are invited to meet ROK Group at the Hotel de Havelet on Wednesday 4 September.
Drop in sessions are available between 14:00 and 18:00 but appointments can also be booked HERE.
At the time of writing all of the pre-booked slots between 14:00 and 15:50 had been taken, with some availability between 15:50 and 17:40.
ROK Group had said in advance that the company's "aim is to buy as many materials and subcontract packages on-island as possible", explaining that the 'Meet The Buyer' event was intended to facilitate these partnerships
"We recommend having an appointment time to ensure that one of our team members is available; however, drop-ins are welcome," said ROK Group.
