Ogier's Corporate team in Guernsey has advised ETC Group, the issuer of the largest physical Bitcoin exchange-traded product in Europe, on its acquisition by Bitwise Asset Management, the largest crypto index fund manager in America.
The London-based ETC Group is one of Europe’s largest dedicated crypto exchange-traded product providers, with more than $1bn in assets under management.
Bitwise, which is among the issuers of spot bitcoin and ether exchange-traded funds in the US, says it plans to expand ETC Group's platform in Europe.
The Ogier team was led by partner Tim Clipstone, with support from counsel James Walsh and associates Amy Parker and Tobi Oluborode, who advised on all Guernsey elements of the transaction. Ogier worked with lead counsel Travers Smith LLP.
Mr Clipstone said: "We're delighted to have worked on this high-profile acquisition, which marks an exciting new period of growth for ETC Group in Europe, a market that is seeing accelerated interest in the digital asset space".
