Nominations announced for Guernsey Design Awards

Wednesday 16 February 2022

This shortlist has been announced for this year's Guernsey Design Awards.

They recognise outstanding design in the built environment and attract entries that represent a broad spectrum of building projects.

The shortlist is split across five categories: small projects of up to £250,000; single residential renovation/extension; residential new build; heritage; and Commercial.

There are three nominations per category.

Steve Powell from main sponsor Norman Piette said it was difficult to select the shortlist.

“The judging panel is made up of representatives from a variety of disciplines within the architectural and building industries,” he said.

“Whilst this ensures that entries benefit from the broadest and fairest range of opinions, it also means that reaching agreement isn’t easy, particularly when the standard of entries was so high."

“However, we now have a shortlist of 15 projects that demonstrate how well local architects rise to the challenge regardless of the size or budget of the build.”

In addition to the five standard awards, there will be ‘The People’s Choice’ voted for by the public.

There will also be a new award dedicated to the memory of Mitch Sneddon, who died in December. He has been an integral part of the awards since their inception.

Full details of all the entries can be viewed HERE.
